We now carry two models of tyre-roller (wheel-drive) motors for swing gates — between them they cover the leaf sizes we are asked for most, from villa gates to wide factory and society gates.
What is a tyre-roller motor? Instead of pushing the leaf with an arm or a ram mounted on the pillar, the motor sits at the bottom outer corner of the leaf and drives a rubber wheel that runs on the ground. The leaf carries the motor with it as it swings.
Where it makes sense:
• Long or heavy leaves — a wheel under the far end of the leaf takes the weight the hinges would otherwise fight, so sag and hinge wear drop sharply.
• Gates with no room on the pillar for an arm or ram, or pillars that are too weak to carry a motor.
• Uneven or sloping ground where an arm-type motor would stall — the wheel simply follows the surface.
• Retrofits: the existing gate stays as it is; we fix the drive unit to the leaf, add a limit system and the control panel, and the gate is automatic in a day.
What to check before you order: the swing path must be reasonably level and free of steps, the leaf needs a firm bottom rail to carry the drive, and power has to reach the leaf (we route a flexible cable through the hinge side). Battery backup and manual release are standard, so a power cut never locks you in or out.
If you are not sure whether your gate needs an arm, a ram or a wheel drive, send us a photo of the gate and its width on WhatsApp — we will tell you the same day.
